Hospice House Endowment
“While providing exceptional care you also comfort family members and address their many needs. I could not have asked for a more sacred and loving atmosphere. Thank you for such a meaningful gift.”

Helping to Fund a Patient’s Stay at Hospice House
The oldest, most experienced, and only community-based, not-for-profit hospice in the region, Hospice of the Piedmont provides terminally ill patients with compassionate end-of-life care and their loved ones with a safe and supportive place to grieve. Our beautiful Hospice House, one of just two licensed homes in the state of Virginia, perfectly exemplifies our mission. It is a quiet and dignified setting where families can deal with end-of-life issues, where devotion can be affirmed, forgiveness for past failures can be sought, estrangements can be healed, peace and acceptance can be found, and final good-byes can be said.
While the hospice benefit provided by Medicare, Medicaid, and most private insurance policies covers most of the costs of basic hospice care, it does not cover the additional expenses of room, board, and round-the-clock staffing at Hospice House. Hospice House residents and their families are asked to pay for these expenses, according to ability.
We are committed to making Hospice House available to those who need it during the last weeks of life, regardless of their financial circumstances, and to keep the costs passed on to patients and families as reasonable as possible. Patients who are uninsured or unable to share in these costs are never denied access to Hospice House.
