Center For Acute Hospice Care
“How grateful I am that you were there to support me, while also providing excellent care. It was the love and kindness that sustained me through those darkest of hours.”
- A patient’s daughter
The oldest and most experienced hospice, and a revered Charlottesville area service since 1980, Hospice of the Piedmont, the only local, community-based hospice in the region, enjoys the freedom to create new programs that for-profit hospices don’t. That’s just what we did with our Center for Acute Hospice Care (CAHC). Designed for patients whose needs are too great to be met at home, our state-of-the-art, 10-bed unit located at Northridge Medical Park on Ivy Road combines the expert loving care of our renowned hospice program with the advanced, round-the-clock resources and amenities of a hospital.
Hospice of the Piedmont brings peace and dignity to the serious illness and death process. But, we also bring deep experience, impressive credentials, and a passionate commitment to innovating more, better ways to serve our patients. This one-of-a-kind center expands our services to support our most vulnerable clients who require acute in-patient nursing care. Our CAHC professional staff of nurses, social workers, aides, chaplains, physicians, and trained volunteers delivers advanced symptom management, aggressive comfort care, and comprehensive end-of-life treatments and therapies to terminally ill patients.
Our expert, credentialed team not only cares for patients but also supports their loved ones with a safe and positive place to grieve in our high quality, long-term bereavement programs. Best of all, our hospice and long-term grief support services are available at no cost to patients and their families.
