Using a Syringe

Fill plunger to the level of the prescribed dose. If the patient is able to swallow safely, then
medication can be given directly from a plunger or mixed into a small amount of juice or
favorite drink.

Liquid medication may be given in small amounts even when patients are unable to swallow.
This can be done safely by placing the tip of the plunger in the pocket between the gum and
cheek or under the tongue.
