Dr. Abby Denby has been a Registered Nurse since 2001.  She obtained her Associate’s degree in nursing from Piedmont Virginia Community College, her Bachelor’s degree in nursing from Old Dominion University in 2008, her Master’s degree in nursing from the University of Virginia with a focus on Health Systems Management in 2015 and in 2020, she obtained her Doctor of Nursing Practice Degree at James Madison University.  Abby began her nursing career at Virginia Commonwealth University Health System on the orthopedic/trauma unit, then transitioned to Sentara Martha Jefferson Hospital, where she worked for 23 years in various roles.  Specialty areas include wound/ostomy care, orthopedics, palliative care, and general medical-surgical nursing. Prior to joining the team at Hospice of the Piedmont, Abby served on the Board of Directors for three years and was the Chair of the Quality Council.  Abby is committed to exceptional quality outcomes, a highly engaged clinical workforce, and staff satisfaction.   When Abby is not working, she enjoys spending time with her family (husband, children, grandchild, Mom, and siblings who all live in the area), playing tennis, riding horses, or any outdoor activities.
