Donna McAdams

Donna McAdams moved to Charlottesville in 1979 to begin her nursing career at UVA Health, where she first worked in thoracic cardiovascular surgery before spending 25 years in chronic hemodialysis care at the Kidney Center. During her 30-year career at UVA, she served as a charge nurse, manager, educator, and mentor, while also supporting Camp Holiday and other programs that enriched the lives of patients and families. Following her retirement from UVA, Donna continued caring for the community through part-time roles with Martha Jefferson Hospital’s Emergency Department, Sentara Home Health, and DaVita Dialysis.
Beyond healthcare, Donna has been deeply involved in the Charlottesville community, serving on the board of Live Arts and supporting several local arts and business organizations. Throughout her career, she has been a passionate advocate for patients, helping individuals and families navigate healthcare challenges with compassion, education, and support. Her work today reflects a lifelong commitment to advocacy, community engagement, and ensuring that people have a voice and access to the resources they need.
