Robert (Bob) Elliott

Bob is a native of Long Island, New York, and graduated with a BS (with honors) from Columbia University in Chemical Engineering and a PhD from Syracuse University in Organic Chemistry, where he was a 3-year NDEA Fellow. He was employed by Exxon Chemical Company for 34 years, making stops in Linden, New Jersey; Oxford, England; Baton Rouge, Louisiana; and Darien, Connecticut. During this time, Bob was employed in senior executive positions in Technology, Business, and Finance. He also served on the Board of Directors for five start-up companies as well as the United Way Board of Union County.

Bob and his late wife, Chris, moved to Charlottesville 17 years ago when they both retired. Chris was a practicing pediatric RN from St Vincent’s Hospital in NYC. He is currently a member of UVA’s Lawn Society, Rotunda Society and Athletic Foundation, CAV Angels, and St. Matthews House Cornerstone Society. He serves on the Board of Directors of Overshores Brewing Company, the Beacon Club of Albemarle County, Charlottesville Opera, the Oratorio Society of Central Virginia, and is currently an emeritus member of the Charlottesville Symphony. In addition to all forms of music and sports, Bob enjoys playing golf, reading, traveling, playing the guitar, cooking and is an audiophile. He is the proud parent of three children and seven grandchildren.
