The Education Institute at Hospice of the Piedmont provides a variety of services to both internal team members, as well as the community at large. The goal of the institute is to increase awareness and understanding of end-of-life care. In addition to providing professional presentations to the Hospice of the Piedmont team, Hospice of the Piedmont is also one of the only hospice organizations in Virginia certified to provide Continuing Education credits to facility and hospital staff.
In addition, we are pleased to be able to send interested staff at Hospice of the Piedmont on a journey of continued education. The Donald A. Perry Memorial Scholarship, established by Kay M. Taylor in 2018, covers the cost of tuition and expenses for Certified Nursing Assistants at Hospice of the Piedmont to pursue their RN degree and for Registered Nurses to purse their BSN degree.
“We can only care as well for others as we care first for each other,” said Dr. Tim Short, Hospice of the Piedmont Chief Medical Officer and Director of the Education Institute. There are currently three staff members enrolled as part of the RN to BSN program and five staff members enrolled in the aide to RN program. We are thankful to Kay Taylor for her visionary philanthropy that established our first nursing scholarship.
