Employee Assistance Fund Provides Meaningful Relief to Staff

This past fall, Hospice of the Piedmont introduced a new philanthropic initiative, the Employee Assistance Fund. The fund was established by The Genan Foundation with the intent to assist employees with financial hardships that could impact their mental and emotional well-being.

Providing Better Care

“It takes special people to care for patients as they face the end of life,” said Andrew Dracopoli, President of The Genan Foundation. “We wanted to reduce the outside stresses these people may, from time to time, feel and allow them to better care for their patients. We hope this fund can go some way in achieving that goal.”

This need-based assistance program is administered by a committee that reviews anonymous applications against a need matrix and guidelines. To date, the HOP Employee Assistance
Fund has provided financial assistance to nine employees. Electric bills, car repairs, legal bills, and childcare relief have all been funded since the introduction of this program.

Employees Share Their Experiences

“HOP came through for me at the time I needed it the most,” reflected one recipient, a CNA at Hospice of the Piedmont. “I am a person that does not reach out for any help at all. However, Hospice of the Piedmont is more like a family to me. So, I was not afraid to ask for help. Thank you so much.”

The Employee Assistance Fund helps alleviate acute needs and ultimately allows our dedicated staff to focus on their compassionate care of patients and families, providing improved
satisfaction all-around.

Another grateful CNA recipient noted the following “I am very thankful for being able to use this assistance. With so much going on in the world, this act of kindness shows there are still
people willing to help a stranger just out of the goodness of their hearts. I thank you from the bottom of my heart.”

The support of The Genan Foundation is a special gift, and we are grateful for their generosity.
